The Food Stop Cafe
The
best burgers in town can be found at The Food Stop Café owned and
operated by Carol and Leonard Ferguson of Kyle. The café has
a full menu and prepares daily lunch specials.
It has been
eleven years since Carol decided to buy and operate the business from
previous owner, Isabelle Pourier. This wasn’t something Carol quickly
jumped into. She worked at Belle’s Diner for almost ten years before
deciding to buy the business. She attended business classes at the Lakota
Funds, developed her business plan and received a business loan to buy
Belle’s Diner.
“ Working
at the diner helped me understand the business pretty good,” Carol
said.
It’s
a lot of work but I enjoy being my own boss not to mention the café is
home and is located in one of the oldest buildings in Kyle belonging
to her father, Buzzy Vocu. The historic landmark is over 100 years
old.
I plan to
expand the business to include a gift shop. The gift shop will buy and
sell arts and crafts from local artists.
Last year
we bought a concession stand that we opened in the evenings during the
warmer weather. We plan to also take The Food Stop concession stand on
the road to the various rodeos, pow wows and other outdoor events.
Carol attributes
the success of café to her regular customers. We try very hard
to give our customers the best menu and friendly service because they
make our business what it is.
